Patient Care Technician, Acute MedSurgical A, Jasper - Full time at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System

Summary:

Provides basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff and ensures patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Answering patient calls and helping patients with eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
• Feeding patients, measuring and recording their food and liquid intake.
• Monitoring and documenting patients' temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs and reporting changes to nurses or doctors.
• Assisting nurses or doctors with medical procedures and dressing wounds.

Requirements:

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• All newly hired Nursing Support Staff may be required to attend a facility-specific clinical orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and an MedSurg Department-specific competency validation.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.

Experience 

• Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations

• BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
