Nurse Extern II - Lake Charles at CHRISTUS Ochsner Health Southwestern Louisiana

Please apply here if you are a RN student that is CURRENTLY in or has ALREADY completed their first rotation of hospital clinicals. Please refer to the Extern I positing if you are still in foundations or fundamentals.

Join our Extern II program and have the opportunity to work AND learn by shadowing front line Registered Nurses. In this program, you will gain valuable hospital experience rotating through different units while receiving a generous hourly compensation. 

Under the supervision and/or direction of the Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern II performs various direct patient care activities in accordance with the Nursing Department policies and procedures. The Nurse Extern II is able to assist with the care of hospitalized patients. The Nurse Extern II may be assigned other functions in accordance with hospital/department policies, procedures, and protocols.

Interviews: begin mid/end of September

Summary:

Requirements:

A. Education/Skills

a. Currently enrolled in a nursing program to obtain either an associate degree or bachelor’s degree to become a registered nurse.

b. Must have completed their first hospital clinical rotation and be in good standing in the nursing program

c. Proficient in basic nursing tasks.

d. Provides updated transcript at time of interview and beginning of each semester until graduation.

e. Six (6) months experience in patient care preferred.

f. AHA BLS required within 2 weeks of employment.
