Nurse Extern I - Lake Charles at CHRISTUS Ochsner Health Southwestern Louisiana

Please apply here if you are a RN student that is only in foundations or fundamentals. Please refer to the Extern II positing if you are CURRENTLY in or have ALREADY completed your first rotation of hospital clinicals.

Join our Extern I program and have the opportunity to work AND learn by shadowing front line staff. In this program, you will gain valuable hospital experience rotating through different units while receiving a generous hourly compensation.

Interviews: begin mid/end of September

Summary:

Under the supervision and/or direction of the Clinical Director or other designated management the Nurse Extern I perform various direct patient care activities in accordance with the Nursing Department policies and procedures. The Nurse Extern I is able to assist with the care of hospitalized patients. The Nurse Extern I may be assigned other functions in accordance with hospital/department policies, procedures, and protocols.

Requirements:

a. Currently enrolled in a nursing program to obtain either an associate degree or bachelor’s degree to become a registered nurse.

b. Proficient in basic nursing tasks.

c. Provides updated transcript at time of interview and beginning of each semester until graduation.

d. AHA BLS required within 2 weeks of employment.
