Summary:

The Child Passenger Safety Seat Program Coordinator oversees the Child Passenger Safety Seat Program at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. The coordinator is responsible for ordering car seats, tracking inventory and maintaining accurate records of car seat distribution and coordinating special needs seats with referring clinical staff member(s). Additional responsibilities include data collection, program evaluation, reporting, grant reporting and proposal writing. The coordinator will be responsible for precepting of new CPSTs and coordinating schedules. As a trained Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), they provide safety and injury prevention education to parents, families, and caregivers. They assist in choosing, purchasing, fitting, and installing child car seats. They will also work with the Injury Prevention Coordinator to develop the car seat safety program and collaborate with outreach events and perform Injury Prevention Outreach duties as assigned.

The CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital, established in 1959, was the first children’s hospital in South-Central Texas. Located downtown, this 190-plus-bed hospital serves more than 70,000 children annually from San Antonio, South Texas and around the world. The hospital (in partnership with Baylor College of Medicine) is the only academic children’s hospital in San Antonio. Our highly specialized services meet the unique medical needs of children, from Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care to Children’s Emergency Services, the latest treatments for deformities of the spine including titanium rib implants and halo traction, a Heart Center, a specialized asthma program, a highly regarded Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, and growing maternal services to include consultation, delivery, and maternal fetal medicine.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required
  • Experience with project research is preferred
  • Knowledge of program administration, evaluation, and coordination is preferred
  • Child Passenger Safety Technician certification required
