The Vice President Trauma Services contributes to the goals of the health system by promoting optimal trauma care in the context of a regionalized trauma care system through clinical activities, professional and public education, research activities, quality improvement activities, maintaining the trauma registry, and administrative functions. This position is also responsible for developing and controlling operational and capital budgets, intervening and solving potential patient safety problems, developing the Associates, ensuring the physical environment meets or exceeds regulatory and CHRISTUS standards. Additionally, the Vice President ensures material and organizational systems function in a manner that provide competitive, cost effective trauma services. This position is responsible for the organization of services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to injured patients. Manages care by maintaining effective lines of communication with all concerned parties.

Acts as a liaison and public relations representative between other departments of the health system and the community. Assists in designing a competitive structure and controls the department’s inventory of equipment and supplies. Provides quality care in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the standards of care based on each patient’s requirements.

This position consistently supports compliance and the code of conduct by maintaining confidentiality, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable Federal and State laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements.


  • BSN and advanced degree in Nursing or business administration.
  • Understanding of the health care delivery environment a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership and operational responsibility in a large/complex customer-oriented service and retail environment.
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications, reports preparation, business communications and policy and procedure development.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with other key providers and caregivers. Understanding of physicians and physician environments a potential advantage.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service and customer satisfaction and the ability to maintain high Associate engagement.
  • Ability to successfully apply new learning to achieve expected outcomes
  • Demonstrated excellence in negotiation, facilitation, influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial operations and ability to meet/exceed financial expectation on an ongoing basis.
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to work with mathematical concepts for the purpose of financial budgeting, reporting and analysis
  • A minimum of 5 years recent executive leadership in a service oriented, trauma services environment. The ideal candidate must demonstrate multi-year leadership responsibility and delivery of successful metrics in a growing, complex and successful venture.
  • Leadership in trauma operations a must with a track record of significant involvement in financial operations and business development.
  • Unencumbered Texas RN License. FACHE, NE-BC, NEA-BC strongly preferred
