Job Description

Summary:

The Surgical Technician-Certified assist the Registered Nurse in the delivery of patient care. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for administering direct patient care, treatments as ordered by the physician and administering medication as outlined by hospital policy and procedures.

Requirements:

A. Education/Skills

· Hired before September 1, 2009 – Graduation from an accredited school of Surgical Technology or at least one year of verified scrub tech experience. Hired after September 1, 2009 – Graduate from an accredited school of Surgical Technology required.

B. Experience

· Six months experience preferred

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

· Hired before September 1, 2009 – No certification required. CPR required. Hired after September 1, 2009 – Must obtain certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting prior to 1st day of orientation.

· AHA CPR required.

Work Type:
