POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring that hospital employed surgical technologists have the training, knowledge, and skills to administer patient care of the highest quality. Responsible for providing both technical and didactic assistance to employed surgical scrub technologists that is aligned with hospital policy and best practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited program for Surgical Scrub Tech

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current Surgical Scrub Tech certification, and BLS required.

SKILLS:

• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures
• Extensive communication skills, team building skills, surgical assisting and instrumentation skills

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years Surgical Scrub Tech experience required, trauma experience preferred.

NATURE OF SUPERVISION:

-Responsible to: CSV surgical services

ENVIRONMENT:

Bloodborne pathogen: C

Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital. Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Intermittent physical effort such as walking, standing, sitting and those activities involved with patient care. Occasional pushing, pulling, and lifting. Flexibility in scheduling required.
