Job Description
Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. The Registered Nurse (RN) administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs. The Registered Nurse (RN) observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.
The Registered Nurse (RN) participates as primary nurse, associate nurse, a team member or team leader in the planning and implementing of patient care. The Registered Nurse (RN) directs and assists in carrying out safe aseptic technique and procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) offers leadership and direction to all support staff within department.
The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at CHRISTUS Surgical Hospital is a critical department that provides exceptional care to patients recovering from surgical procedures. Our PACU has 28 baysand is equipped to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Our facility has 33 beds, 11 Operating Rooms, 2 Endoscopy Procedure rooms, and 3 Isolation Rooms.
Our PACU team consists of highly trained nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals who are dedicated to delivering compassionate care and ensuring patient safety. We provide care for patients who have undergone a range of surgical procedures, with our primary focus being orthopedic surgeries, particularly hip and knee replacement surgeries using the exclusive and less invasive MAKOplasty procedure. We also care for patients undergoing general, ENT, eye, podiatry, dental, plastics, bariatric, and GYN surgeries.

Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care
- One-year experience in nursing preferred.
- Critical care or acute care experience preferred
- Current Texas State RN License
- CPR (American Heart Association)
- ACLS within 6 months of hire/transfer date (All Facilities)
- PALS required within 18 months of hire/transfer date (For Alice, Beeville, and Kleberg facilities)
- TNCC required within 18 months of hire/transfer date (For Shoreline)
- NIHSS required within 90 days of hire/transfer date (For Shoreline)
