Summary:
Provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs. Observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.
CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline houses the region’s only Level II Trauma Center. A9 Trauma Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 27-bed intermediate care unit with an emphasis on the neurological, thoracic, abdominal, and orthopedic trauma patient. In addition, A9 PCU is the designated stroke overflow unit for CHRISTUS Spohn. As a PCU, A9 registered nurses hold BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certificates and are required to hold multiple advanced competencies to include the administration of anti-arrhythmic drips, the management of non-invasive respiratory support, and the performance of serial neurological and NIHSS exams.
Our staffing consists of a 1:3-5 nurse to patient ratio that is adjusted based on patient acuity.

Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- One-year experience in nursing preferred.
- Current Texas State RN License
- CPR (American Heart Association)
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire/transfer date
- EKG required within 90 days of hire/transfer date
