Summary:

The phlebotomist/lab assistant may be responsible for collection of blood specimens, receive and accession specimens and responsible for the distribution of specimens to the proper laboratory section. The phlebotomist/lab assistant shall perform various section procedures according to established guidelines. The responsibilities of this lab assistant will be performed within all areas of the hospital.

Requirements:

A. Education/Skills • High school diploma required • Must successfully complete on the job-training program, including computer training during initial employment. • Prefer at least 8 hours of science credits from accredited university or college. 

B. Experience • None 

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications • Prefer certification in phlebotomy from American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent organization.
