The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for performing all tasks necessary to increase physician/mid-level efficiency and improve patient experience. This includes providing initial screens for pre-operative patients, scheduling clinic appointments, scheduling testing with other providers, requesting medical records, taking vital signs and performing EKGs, rooming patients, preparing patient rooms, patient registration, obtaining medical records and assembly of patient charts.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent, medical terminology preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association required within 6 months of hire. Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months of hire.
SKILLS: Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, and typing required.
EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in related health care field required.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Pre-Anesthesia testing registered nurse, mid-level providers and physicians, and Clinical Supervisor.

Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital. Intermittent exposure to one or more unpleasant physical conditions. Constant exposure to hazards such as communicable diseases, needle punctures, X-ray radiation, stress and strain.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to write neatly and legibly and spell correctly. Most work is done in a sitting position over long periods of time with hands and arms slightly raised. Regular changes of position from sitting, standing, walking. Frequent lifting, pushing, and bending. Must be able to listen to multiple conversations around working area while performing other tasks. Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries. Must be able to assist patients to patient rooms, to testing and onto gurneys. Frequent telephone work.
