Apply Now Lactation Consultant (RN) Part-Time Job in Santa Fe

POSITION SUMMARY: Primarily responsible for care given to a group of clients which includes assessment of patient breastfeeding needs, education and support to all breastfeeding mothers and their families, and providing documentation and communication to the physician and nursing staff. Acts as resource to nursing staff with lactation problems.

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing OR completion of accredited Midwifery program required. BSN degree preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current New Mexico RN license (if RN candidate) or current New Mexico Midwife Certification and License (if Midwife candidate) required. BLS Required. Completion of International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Course required within one year. NRP Certification Preferred.

SKILLS:

• Must be able to pass skills competency checklist applicable to area
• Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years OB, Inpatient and/or Outpatient Lactation RN or Midwife, experience required.

NATURE OF SUPERVISION:

-Responsible to: Manager, Women's Services

ENVIRONMENT:

Works flexible hours based on patient need to include weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Frequently lifts, positions, and pushes equipment. Hearing and visual acuity within normal or correctable limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required.
