The Interface Analyst is responsible for designing functional and technical interface specification. This includes development of the interfaces according to specifications that meet organizational and application business needs. Responsible for leadership and oversight for Information Services work groups in order to meet deadlines associated with interface projects. This individual will work as a member of cross-functional teams that deal with the full spectrum of information management technology. Responsibilities may also include assisting in group and team direction and work assignments.


EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business computing, computer science, health care degree or relevant experience.


SKILLS: Demonstrated knowledge and experience of:

q HL7 interface methodologies

q E*Gate


q Hospital Information Systems (HIS)

q Electronic medical records (EMR)

q Clinical systems

Demonstrated ability to install, configure, validate and test:

q E*Gate software products

q Emergency Software Releases (ESR's)

q Utilizing Unix and Windows platforms

Ability to create interfaces following the full development life cycle including:

q Analysis

q Design (including specifications) and application optimization

q Development and testing

q Implementation and operations documentation

q Technical support

Demonstrated knowledge of current systems analysis principles, methods, procedures, practices, tools and techniques including:

q Requirements definition

q Cost/benefit analysis

q Feasibility studies

q Flowcharts, decision trees, data flow diagrams, CASE tools and related analysis tools

q Process, logic and conceptual data modeling

Ability to utilize current project management principles, methods, procedures, practices and tools and techniques including:

Ability to create customized training modules for users and staff from all levels of the organization and with a variety of skill levels, specifically:

q Developing user, technical and operational training courses and requirements.

q Creating documentation, charts, graphs, project plans, training materials and other formal communications.

q Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical internal and external clients required.

q Knowledge of e*Gate architecture and eWay, BOB, IQ, IQ Manager, JMS, ETD components on both UNIX and Windows platforms essential.

Knowledge of standard development methodologies and tools essential.

Working knowledge of HL7, EDI or XML. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Access.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Seven years experience in systems applications and development.
  • Four or more years experience developing within e*Gate 4.5x and 5.0x environments using both Monk and Java.
  • Two or more years' working knowledge of HL7, X12 or XML required.
  • Two or more years' healthcare industry experience required, developing custom healthcare applications.
  • Four or more years experience in project management or project leadership roles.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ten years systems analysis experience in systems applications.
  • JCAPS, Java2EE, UNIX scripting, Cerner Millennium, MS Source Safe experience a plus.
  • Experience with CHRISTUS St. Vincent's existing technology and applications.
  • Five or more years experience in project management or project leadership roles.
