Supervises and coordinates activities of clerical personnel in the organization which encompasses all Sports Medicine & Therapy Services on and off campus. This includes, but is not limited to hiring, training, supervision, disciplinary authority of all clerical personnel. Supervises and coordinates the Sports Medicine & Therapy Services business office operations and procedures such as training new staff, registration, insurance verification, patient scheduling, collecting data for management reports, investigate insurance denials, cash posting, flow of correspondence between physician offices, medical records, pre-registration, proper filing, requisition of office supplies, and any other clerical services needed. Examines work for accuracy, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures. Acts as Timekeeper for clerical personnel by reviewing Time and Attendance and acts as a back up role to the Manager/Director for approval of time. Works directly with Manager/Director on new projects and reports all necessary data. Must ensure high standards of customer service. The supervisor must have good communication skills and be able to work well with others to promote a team environment. This position represents the department's leadership and requires professional behavior, dependability and flexibility. Assists the Manager/Director with ongoing professional development of the departments and staff. Follows the CHRISTUS St. Vincent Reginal Medical Center guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).

EDUCATION: Associates Degree preferred.


SKILLS: Proficient knowledge of all Microsoft Office Applications, medical terminology, Affinity Systems, Epic Systems, Timekeeping Management and all electronic medical records. Must have proven leadership ability and the skills to interact with patients, staff and customers. Must have strong communication and customer service skills. Must be able to work well with others and promote team environment.

EXPERIENCE: Three years front office experience in a medical setting required to include patient registration and scheduling.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting, standing, stooping, walking for at least an eight hour shift. Heavy lifting (greater than 75 lbs.) may be required.
