Job Description
Summary:
Provides instruction for CHRISTUS EMS students and employees participating in educational offerings. Participates in EMS education, program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Participates in related projects as deemed appropriate by the Clinical Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of EMS educational offerings.
2. Prepares and delivers instruction at various locations throughout the CHRISTUS EMS service area as needed; supervises the activities of course participants during instructional time.
3. Evaluates learner performance, provides feedback, and develops learner remediation plans.
4. Fulfills EMS educational program administrative requirements to include calculation and submission of grades, maintenance of program, course, and student/participant records, and preparation and submission of data and reports.
5. Participates in continuing professional development programs as appropriate.
6. Adheres to established CHRISTUS EMS policy and procedures and relevant quality and safety standards.
7. Participate in activities that promote CHRISTUS EMS, including employee recruiting, student recruiting, and marketing events as appropriate.
8. May lead, guide, and train, staff, students, and employees, to specific requirements as related to their area of operations.
9. Serve as a point of contact for all first responder organizations with the CHRISTUS EMS service area. Assist with training and assist in accountability of services and supplies provided to these organizations.
10. Serve on various committees as determined by the Chief Administrative Officer, or the Chief Clinical Officer/Program Director.
11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Education Coordinator, Chief Administrative Officer, or Chief Clinical Officer/Program Director.
Minimum/Job requirements:
1. Hold a current Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic License or Certification.
2. Hold a current Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Instructor Certification.
3. Be an Instructor in the following disciplines
3.1.1.Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
3.1.2.PHTLS or ITLS
3.1.3.PEPP or PALS
3.1.4.Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
4. Have been actively employed as a Paramedic for at least 5 years.
5. Hold a valid class C drivers license.
6. Be a high school graduate or have a GED
Preferred Job Requirements:
1. Have an associate’s or higher degree in Emergency Medical Technology.
2. Hold a Current Texas Department of State Health Services Basic or Advanced Course Coordinator certificate.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
1. Knowledge of EMS theory, practice, and trends.
2. Knowledge of current EMS curricular content and education standards.
3. Ability to adapt EMS curricula to reflect State requirements, local needs, and national trends.
4. Knowledge of adult learning theory, practice, and methodologies.
