Summary:

Responsible for the success of the clinical laboratory operations in the regional hospitals and associated outpatient areas. Manages the system necessary to provide accurate and timely test information for inpatient diagnosis and treatment. Directs the activities associated with collection, transporting, processing and analyzing of patient specimens from inpatient and outpatient locations. Oversees a wide variety of administrative, fiscal, and technical activities to ensure efficient operation of all clinical laboratories. Secures regulatory compliance with all applicable federal, state, local agencies and accrediting associations. Assumes fiscal accountability for the operation of the Regional Laboratory Services Department. Acts as a liaison between hospital Administration and the Pathologists.

Requirements:

Education/Skills

·Baccalaureate Degree required. MHA or MBA degree preferred.

·Effective communicator; multiple project management experience; ability to maintain focus with frequent interruption; ability to achieve data reduction and accurate reporting; good personal computer skills; applies a systems approach to decision making; effective at long and short term planning; good interpersonal skills; talent to motivate staff at various levels; able facilitator and effective negotiator.

·Manages Inpatient and Outpatient Laboratory operations within CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System, all lab locations, present and future.

·Other: Must be able to successfully incorporate change into the daily laboratory operations. Risk exposure to blood and body fluids is category II (occasional).

Experience

·At least five (5) years of supervision and three (3) years of management in a clinical laboratory setting.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

·Medical Technologist (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or equivalent.
