Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides professional and administrative advice, guidance and services in support of the Hospital's Associate relation function. Serves as a primary point of consultation, coordination, and/or liaison for hospital personnel on a range of Associate relations policy, contract interpretation and procedural issues. Assists in the interpretation of Hospital policy and in collaboration with supervisors ensures adherence of all Hospital policies and procedures. Assists with the administration of the collective bargaining agreements, including insuring Hospital compliance and facilitation of grievance process as needed. Also processes and tracks compliance with quarterly staffing reconciliation report for union. Provides union reports including dues report, schedules and others as needed.

Facilitates and assists in the resolution of workplace disputes and grievances as assigned. Represents management in labor relations, including contract negotiations and labor management committee as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in human resources or related field required. Paralegal or Juris Doctorate (JD) highly preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

SKILLS:

High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to manage several priorities at once and to work well independently and as part of a team.

Strong Negotiation and Mediation Skills

Ability to work with Union leadership while representing management interests

Ability to provide training development and delivery (management training in labor and Associate relations)

Ability to protect management rights while complying with collective bargaining agreements

Strong decision making skills including determining and implementing appropriate legal consultation and involvement as appropriate

Advanced knowledge of labor relations and principles and practices; labor and employment law.

EXPERIENCE: Five years exempt-level Human Resources experience preferred. Three years' experience in Associate relations, comprehensive labor relations, and/or HR operations preferred. Healthcare experience highly desired. Juris Doctorate will substitute for experience requirement.

Works in clean, well-lighted, ventilated, smoke-free environment. Subject to stressful professional relationships. Working hours vary, with flexibility necessary due to unexpected change in schedules. Requires knowledge of general safety standards. Work is conducted primarily in offices or conference room areas.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to move around hospital. May also require sitting for long periods of time. Requires the ability to speak, listen, and develop and communicate written materials.
