Summary:

The International Accounting Manager is a manager level position responsible for developing and implementing industry leading practices and procedures for the centralized accounting functions for the CHRISTUS Health international system.

The significant areas of responsibility include:

  • Manage and oversee the operations of the accounting department including:
  • Month and end-year processes
  • Accounts payable of foreign entities
  • Inter-company invoicing, aging and collection efforts
  • General ledger for local books and for US corporate books
  • Reconciliations of account balances and between local and US corporate books
  • Third party accounting and payroll providers
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits for international wholly owned legal entities
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
  • Meet financial accounting objectives
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions

This position requires significant interaction and communication with Senior Leadership, regional leadership, regional financial associates, including CFO, and outside consultants. The International Accounting Manager is expected to rely extensively on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This includes performing a variety of tasks, and leading and directing the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This requires strong interpersonal and leadership skills. The International Accounting Manager must have excellent project management skills and the ability to adapt those skills to the various special projects that are required. This position may also participate on acquisitions financial due diligence for new business opportunities as well as integration activities throughout the different countries outside of the US.

The ability to communicate effectively with all types of people at all levels is critical. The position is expected to interact with senior accounting, financial and operating leaders at the facilities and CHRISTUS System Office and deliver a positive impact on the company’s financial and operational performance. This position also acts as a resource available for education, consultation, and implementation financial enhanced processes

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Related to International Accounting:

  • Provide management and oversight for all international accounting functions of various corporate and operating entities, including month-end close, account reconciliations, inter-company procedures, ensuring timely reporting and responsiveness based on due dates and deadlines.
  • Oversee process to plan and implement the coordination of all general accounting functions for the holdings of the CHRISTUS Health international system ensuring procedures are consistent, standardized and contain the controls required to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Participate in the process to develop and implement system-wide policies and procedures related to US GAAP and IFRS requested by executive leadership.

Related to Leadership:

  • Regular interaction and communication with members of the Leadership Team of CHRISTUS Health, Senior Regional Management and many other associates requiring excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Enhance the work environment to ensure Associate engagement and satisfaction.
  • Enhance relationships with customers by actively listening and addressing concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Place high focus on process improvement and development of direct and indirect reports.
  • Resolve or facilitate the resolution of issues and concerns that create barriers to a high performing team and work environment.

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in accounting or finance
  • Advanced computer and spreadsheet skills required, primarily consisting of Word and Excel
  • Detail-oriented
  • Critical thinker who challenges the way things have always been done to look for opportunities for improvement and efficiencies
  • 5-10 years of relevant accounting experience, consisting of either public or private accounting
  • Previous supervisory/management experience is preferred
  • Experience with Meditech general ledger accounting system and Hyperion (HFM) consolidation tool a bonus
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in Spanish and English required.
