Perfusionist - Surgery Perfusionist - PRN in Texarkana, TX

Summary:

Maintains and operates cardiopulmonary pump, Cell Saver, autotransfuser and intra-aortic balloon pump during invasive cardiovascular procedures. Provides assistance to the physicians and staff as needed. This job description is not intended to be all inclusive. Associate may be required to perform other reasonably related job duties as assigned. CSMHS reserves the right to revise or change duties and responsibilities as the need arises.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains consistency with Administrative and Departmental policies with appropriate behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability.
• Assumes responsibility for providing patient care during surgical procedures.
• Assumes responsibility for all duties relating to the use and the care of the heart/lung machine, the intra-aortic balloon pump and necessary supplies.
• Maintains ability to take call during assigned duty. Must be available to report to duty within 30 minutes or less of notification.
• Provides assistance for the safe transportation of patients as necessary.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited program in perfusion technology. 
• Advanced training in blood gas analysis and coagulation analysis.
• Basic computer knowledge. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Experienced in the use of Intra-aortic Balloon Pump and hemodynamic monitoring. 
• Ability to establish priorities and plan ahead, work with minimal assistance, and communicate effectively with others.
• High school diploma or equivalent. 
• Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Technologists. 
• Certified or eligible for certification in the use of a Cell Saver blood recovery system.
