POSITION SUMMARY: The Oncology Social Worker is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team and provides comprehensive psychosocial needs assessments for patients and families with cancer. Provides a range of counseling, educational and case management services to Cancer Center patients and community groups. Involved in program and educational development, crisis intervention and consultation for patients and staff members throughout the hospital. May provide training and guidance to graduate students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s Degree in Counseling
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current social work licensure in New Mexico and completes annual CEU’s per licensing board.
SKILLS:
EXPERIENCE: Two years clinical experience in hospital, long-term care or hospice setting. Experience in program development and leadership preferred. Oncology experience preferred.

Multiple simultaneous activities around patient care. Exposure to infectious diseases and intermittent exposure to blood, excrements, odors and noise. Work area has normal heat light and air.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle crisis situations. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics.
