POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Manager for Associate Health Nurse serves as the lead for the operations group on system wide and operations group Associate health and wellness activities and provides support and guidance to all Associate Health Nurses in the operations group regions (NLA, CLA, SWLA, and SETX). As an Associate Health Nurse for Central Louisiana, this position is responsible for the daily activities of Associate Health and works in close collaboration with Human Resources, Infection Control and Risk Management to ensure a safe and healthy work environment and performs the primary duties, including pre-employment assessment/screening, monitoring health/wellness of the workforce to include annual mandatory health screenings and immunizations, fitness for duty assessments, and management and reporting of Associate injuries or occupational events. The Associate Health Nurse oversees the Worker's Compensation program in coordination with the System Office and third party administrators.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Manager Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, support and guidance to all AHNs in the Operations group and remains current on Associate Health best practices, trends and regulatory compliance and disseminates to all Associate health departments.
  • Leads Wellness activities for the operations group ensuring all facilities are actively participating in wellness events and monitors compliance and effectiveness of Wellness Champions/Teams.
  • Monitors and reports on key indicators of Associate Health, including Employee Harm measures, occupational events, illness or injuries, compliance with regulatory screenings and vaccinations, and workers' compensation claims. When necessary, makes recommendations for areas of focus and improvement.

Associate Health Nurse Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and conducts pre-screening for all candidates for employment, ensuring applicable health history is obtained and all pre-employment Associate Health requirements are complete; notifies Human Resources of any abnormal or unsatisfactory finding or physical work restrictions.
  • Ensures annual TST screenings and influenza or other vaccinations are conducted according to Infection Control policy and guidelines, including administration of vaccinations and TST tests. Coordinates and tracks compliance in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and leadership to address Associates who are non-compliant with any Associate Health requirements, including timely TST screening, influenza or other vaccinations.
  • Facilitates assessment, medical care, and follow-up for Associate exposures to blood and body fluids or other infectious / communicable diseases.
  • Responsible for administration of Associate injury and worker's compensation policies and programs; serves as the facility liaison between the CHRISTUS Health System office and applicable third party administrators. Recommends appropriate course of action to facilitate return to work in a timely manner and oversees placement of Associates who return to work for modified duty.
  • Evaluates Associates returning to work after illness or injury and notifies leaders and Human Resources of work restrictions, and/or requests or need for accommodation, if any.
  • Upon request and in collaboration with Human Resources and leaders, conducts screening, assessment, and evaluation of Associates who may not be able to physically perform job functions in a safe or effective manner, to include collection and oversight of for cause or reasonable suspension drug screening.
  • Maintains Associate Health files in a confidential manner to ensure regulatory compliance and reports on Associate Health visits and other data as needed, i.e. OSHA Log and worker's compensation reporting.
  • Promotes a safe and healthy work environment for Associates through collaboration with Human Resources, Infection Control, Risk Management and/or, Safety Officer and through service on applicable teams or committees.
  • Reports unsafe working conditions identified or trends in occupational events to leadership.
  • Supports and facilitates workplace wellness activities and initiatives, including annual biometric screenings and serves a facility or regional Wellness Champion.
  • Performs all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of Associates and patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless it is necessary in the performance of assigned job duties.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an ADN or BSN nursing program.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook and with various web based application
  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct patient care nursing experience required.
  • Prior experience as an Occupational Health nurse or similar outpatient or clinic setting is highly preferred; extensive acute care experience and/or knowledge of the organization may be substituted for occupational health background
  • Previous supervisor or program management experience is highly preferred
  • Current RN licensure.
