The Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation raises funds in support of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System and our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. This Philanthropy Officer position will oversee the implementation of a giving program in New Braunfels and Comal County to support CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital -- New Braunfels. This is to include annual giving, grateful patient giving, major gifts and event sponsorships. The responsibilities of this position include: identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundation prospects; writing various materials including proposals, follow-up and introductory letters, and cases for support; collaboration with board members and other volunteers to bring new philanthropic partners to the Foundation; build donor relationships and present gift proposals; develop understanding of institutional history and hospital programs, service lines and hospital leadership, including key physicians/nurses; and the organization of annual campaigns including Associate Giving and United Way Campaign at the New Braunfels hospital. This position will office the majority of the time at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital -- New Braunfels and will travel to the San Antonio foundation office regularly.

A. Education/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from of an accredited college or university; however, experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions, utilizing judgment and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate internally and externally on behalf of the foundation
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement multiple project plans and budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate in writing foundation appeals and donor communications
  • Demonstrated ability to perform assigned responsibilities in a manner that meets the needs of department goals and objectives
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook required

B. Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Knowledge and success in working in New Braunfels/Comal County is a plus.
