The Admitting manager establishes and coordinates all aspects of the Admission process to facilitate an efficient and customer-friendly atmosphere, in line with the mission and core values of CHRISTUS. The Admitting Manager is responsible for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department registrations; time of service collections; screening for financial assistance; scheduling of patient procedures; and referral, insurance verification, and pre-certification processes for patients not processed by the Pre-Access department. Assures development of a high-performance work team through coaching, mentoring, and daily briefings. Responsible for analysis of performance metrics to improve process performance. Maintains all levels of the Admission process in conjunction with JCAHO standards and HIPPA regulations. Develops and maintains working relationships with physicians and office staff, as well as other customers within and outside the facility.

  • Bachelor's degree. Preferably in business administration or finance. Note: Candidates possessing an Associate's degree will be considered if actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree. Degree must be obtained within 5 years of hire date.
  • Skills to develop root cause and corrective actions for teams (can be trained within 3 months of hiring).
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to present and explain information to customers in a desired manner consistent with procedures.
  • Must have practical experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Applications.
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor and support development of resources.
  • Must have professional and courteous skills.
  • Must have ability to make independent decisions that are generally guided by established procedures and/or collection process.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of ethical and compliant business practices.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive, stressful and confidential situations and account
  • Two to four years in a supervisory role preferred, necessary to gain full understanding of preadmission, admission, verification, precertification, time of service calculation and financial screening in order to effectively manage departmental functions and activities.
  • Minimum of three years progressive work experience in Hospital Revenue Cycle or Physician Office setting preferred.
  • Must have knowledge, or obtain knowledge within 90 days, on Managed Care Payor requirements for admission.
  • Knowledge of third party rules and regulations, or obtain knowledge within 90 days.
  • Years of experience, education and work performance of an internal Associate may be reviewed and considered for possible promotion into this position if the Associate has demonstrated knowledge of third party rules and requirements and Admitting principles and processes.
