This position supports the General Leadership Team (GLT) and the mission of the Sisters in the Incarnate Word . Under the Supervision of the Director of Network Operations, the Network Administrator assists the Director of Network Operations in the management of the organization's communications network and maintains internal networks and connections to the Internet. Responsibilities include network security, installing new applications, distributing software upgrades, monitoring daily activity, enforcing licensing agreements, and providing for routine backups of computer systems. Provides networking assistance to users, including help with network connections and passwords. Assists in developing network security policies. Monitors network traffic and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware. Provides technical support to employees and Sisters who require assistance with their computers and peripherals.

  • Monitors and analyzes network reliability and performance; recommends and implements adjustments when necessary
  • Utilizes network tools, test equipment, and software to troubleshoot, isolate, and correct network problems
  • Evaluates, selects, procures, configures, installs, and maintains network connectivity devices and systems necessary to facilitate effective enterprise data communications such as gateways, firewalls, routers, network switches, copper media, fiber media, wireless access points, wireless routers, and wireless bridges
  • Monitors internet connectivity solutions for local and remote sites; develops specifications and offers appropriate services recommendations; submits requests for service and coordinates service installations
  • Configures and maintains DSL & cable modems
  • Monitors and implements virtual private network (VPN) connections between sites
  • Researches and develops specifications for new server hardware platforms
  • Purchases, configures, installs, maintains, and repairs server platforms
  • Installs, configures, and maintains network server operating systems
  • Installs, configures, and updates antivirus software, firewalls, and software updates
  • Performs firewall penetration tests as necessary to validate effectiveness of perimeter defenses
  • Performs network vulnerability scans as necessary to identify unresolved deficiencies
  • Analyzes requirements and develops specifications for desktop and laptops computers, tablets, Ipads
  • Identifies and procures preconfigured systems, or acquire necessary components and assembles the workstations to meet specification requirements; provides ongoing maintenance and technical support
  • Procures, installs, and maintains peripheral devices to include printers, scanners, facsimile machines, copy machines, external storage, docking stations, video monitors, webcams, microhones, speakers, and headsets
  • Develops, stores, and deploys preconfigured baseline system images for desktop computers to include operating system, office productivity suites, antivirus software, and other standard use applications
  • Provides internet webhosting services for the GLT and the congregation
  • Maintains disaster recovery plan to facilitate rapid recovery in the event of server failure or data loss; includes daily incremental and / or differential data backups and weekly full backups as well as an off-site storage plan
  • Assists with the maintenance of the telephone system, telephone instruments, IP based telephone services, and mobile telephone services; configures and maintains cell / smart phones
  • Provides information technology assistance to the team, GLT, and congregation
  • Provides end user training on the use of information technology equipment and software
  • Prepares written documentation as needed to provide technical guidance to users
  • Monitors and enforces license agreements
  • Performs onsite computer troubleshooting and/or repair when necessary/possible
  • Assists with the creation and implementation of corporate policies to include information security standards, procedures and guidelines and monitoring same
  • Protects the confidentiality and accessibility of records.
  • Attends professional training and development as needed approved to maintain proficiency in position
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field
  • A minimum of two years experience in communications / information technology preferred
  • Microsoft Certifications preferred


  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Knowledgeable in network operations, computer hardware and software, network, and computer management tools, as well as experience with telecommunications hardware such as LAN hubs, fiber optics, bridges, routers, universal cabling, and gateways
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
  • Ability to maintain high level of customer service and support


  • Flexible schedule and availability
  • US and International travel required 2-6 weeks per year
  • Must also successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination, and the annual screening each year thereafter as an employee.
