Lead Groundskeeper Job in Houston

Summary:

Please note that this position is with the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word at Villa de Matel Center located in Houston, Texas. The Villa de Matel Center is the home for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. It is also used as a central gathering place for the Sisters and their ministries, a retirement center for the Sisters and a retreat center for the public. The Lead Grounds Keeper is responsible for managing the day-to-day maintenance of the grounds at Villa de Matel and St. Austin Center; including designing, planting and maintaining the landscaped areas by displaying independent initiative and judgment in determining operation of equipment, making repairs and meeting emergency situations. 

The Lead Grounds Keeper is expected to behave in a manner consistent with the Core Values and must collaborate with other Associates and departments to ensure the overall mission is achieved.

Requirements:

A. Education/Skills:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to operate tractor and other lawn care tools
• Knowledge of plants and maintenance of landscape areas

 B. Experience:

• 2 to 3 years assistant supervisory or lead experience preferred
• 3 to 5 years landscape experience

 C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: 

• Texas Driver’s License
• Landscape certificate or other horticultural education preferred
