The Lead Laboratory Assistant will lead and guide the work of all laboratory assistant staff. Will assist with training including phlebotomy, waived testing and processing specimens. Assists regional laboratory leadership with performance improvement and quality assurance. Performs the duties of a laboratory assistant at Regional Lab sites as scheduled including specimen collections, maintaining laboratory records and reports, and maintaining inventory. Receives, processes, and prepares specimens for testing or transportation as needed in order to maintain sample integrity. Enters orders into the EMR for reflex testing. Performs waived and some moderate testing including evaluation of QC performance and trouble shooting as necessary. Performs required cleaning and maintenance procedures
Phlebotomy Certification is required and PBT (ASCP is preferred) at the time of hire.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED as well as having completed 6 week Clinical Phlebotomy Training Program.
One year Phlebotomy/Lab Assistant Experience is required
