POSITION SUMMARY: The Health Fitness Instructor is responsible for all operations, functions, quality of care, and short and long term planning for assigned classes and programs at CSVRMC Holistic Health & Wellness. The instructor delivers appropriate, ethical, and competent instruction for a medically diverse population. This position develops and promotes wellness opportunities for patients and CSV employees, and collaborates with all other departments health-system wide, all according to safe practice. This position works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team at Holistic Health & Wellness to identify and deliver classes that meet specific patient population needs through on-going classes, as well as short term programs as needed.
The Health Fitness Instructor provides direct patient care and documentation of that care plan when needed.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Certification in any health fitness related field may be acceptable based on the needs of the department. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Qualifications will be determined based on type of class being offered.
* Yoga instructor - required to be a Yoga Alliance Registered Instructor - 200 hour level (RYT-200). Minimum of one year experience as a yoga instructor. Cancer exercise training recommended.
* Tai Chi instructor -required to be a certified Tai Chi instructor with a minimum of one year experience in teaching Tai Chi
* Qi Gong instructor - required to be a certified Qi Gong instructor with a minimum of one year experience in teaching Qi Gong
SKILLS: Current knowledge and/or experience in cardiovascular disease, cardiovascular nursing, emergency procedures, nutrition, exercise physiology, health education, psychology and medical and education strategies for CAD risk factor management.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of personal practice in the modality being taught.
