The Director of Community Benefit and Mission Integration provides leadership and direction for system community health policies and programs that support the CHRISTUS Health Mission, Vision, and Values. He/She is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating community benefit reporting throughout the CHRISTUS Health System, with the goal of demonstrating improvement in the health status of our communities through appropriate documentation and evaluation. Analyzes community benefit reports and related projects. Collaborates with Tax Accounting and Finance departments on federal reporting and related non-profit status requirements. Analyzes the cost and benefit of community benefit programs. Directs system responsibilities for the CHRISTUS Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and works with regions on developing proactive and outcome-based community health improvement plan (CHIP). He/she oversees community benefits planning, budgeting and reporting throughout the system, and related community health program development. He/she ensures the implementation of community revitalization best practices, assures appropriate management for the CHRISTUS Fund and for the procurement of grants to support community activities. He/she is responsible for maximizing the value of benefits CHRISTUS Health provides to the communities it serves. Directs community benefit management with strategy and operations, regarding community benefit responsibilities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership, analytical and project support system-wide in evaluating and reporting community benefit initiatives and outcomes.
  • Directs with other systems' departments, the system-wide consolidation of community reporting via Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability CBISA software program.
  • Collaborates with Tax Accounting and Finance departments to ensure reporting of Community Benefit. As an organization, tax-exemption valuation exceeds $500,000 million on an annual basis.
  • Leads certain Mission Integration initiatives as assigned
  • Serve as a resource for Mission Integration leaders, community benefit reporters, and related committees on community benefit initiatives and issues.
  • Directs timely completion of high quality written reports, presentation or others materials in a manner that contributes to sound decision making, strategic planning, and appropriate public accountability and provide data for use in strategic planning, mission, advocacy, and other areas
  • Guides management with internal and external communications by producing financial reports on community benefits that feed into annual reports, board reports, and regional presentations.
  • Provide leadership with community benefit reporters with technical and financial requests for information and education.
  • Maintain information systems and documentation for the accurate monitoring and reporting of community benefit
  • Serve as a principal provider of complex analytics as requested by SVP of Mission, System VP HEDI and Community Benefit, other executives, or managers.
  • Provide research and development support for Community Benefit Department's activities.
  • Support management of best practices for community benefits.
  • Present to the Board of Directors develops media and written presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulatory agency requirements (e.g., JCAHO, CMS), and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, which apply to the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Master's degree or professional accounting certification is required (CPA, CIA, CMA, or FHFMA). The degree should be in community health, public health, health administration, or similar field with practical experience in addressing community health issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and the interpersonal skill necessary to interface at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic planning skills and the demonstrated ability to be successful with project implementation.
  • Vision, creativity, and a passion for community health workers.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 2-3 years of community health/benefit work within a health organization.
