Careful and accurate preparation of all food items listed on the food service menu. Responsible for cost saving measures that protect and maintain suitable food costs in the department. Responsible for safety, maintenance, sanitation of the cooking equipment, floors, and work areas used. Prepares food items according to recipes and dietary requirements of the patient populations; and retail areas; foods prepared are appealing in appearance and taste.
High School Diploma or GED perferred
Ability to read and apply weights and measurements to recipes
Two years experience as a cook, aide, or kitchen worker
Knowledge of batch cooking, preferably in a hospital or cafeteria setting
Must be able to read, write, and communicate using English language
